TOMB OF SENNEDJEM (TT1)

CLICK THE TOMB ABOVE FOR THE VIRTUAL REALITY 3D TOUR

Click here to read the complete description of the tomb.

This tour will provide a unique experience, allowing you to navigate your way around the rooms and the corridors, as in a video game. It requires a small VRML browser plug-in (for Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari) in order to view the 3D model.
The downloadable "CORTONA 3D" plug-in is recommended, free on ParallelGraphics. The procedure of installation is automatic.

The software is intuitive after some trial runs, but a help page is available in the Cortona User Guide.
Also, when using the "Cortona" plug-in, right click and select help.
An alternate, "COSMO", VRML plug-in is available from N.I.S.T..

The images total over 3Mb, so be patient, they will load.
(Broadband connection recommended)

NOTE :
• In this tour the upper courtyard is only a representation of its possible original design (based on a drawing by Bruyère). The middle pyramid chapel is that of Sennedjem.
• The first movements in this tour are slow. This only ocuurs at the start, whilst the 3D model adjusts (the architecture is complicated).
• Entry to the burial chamber is barred by a wooden door (now actually in the Cairo museum). You cannot walk through this, it must be opened. To achieve this, just click anywhere on the door. Likewise, to see the reverse side, when in the burial chamber, click the door again.
Remember to open it again before trying to leave.
• If you are touring the tomb manually (not using the "viewpoint list") in order to ascend the two shafts, click on the foot/hand hold on which the touch sensor appears.
• Entry and exit of room D (the unused storeroom) is only possible by using the "viewpoint list", because the entrance to it is so small.
